Mark Greenaway has a personal and passionate interest in historic buildings and has worked on many projects in this area including Iron casement windows, Cast Iron glass houses, traditional mills and gates. Church restoration work including spire weathervanes, Cast Iron guttering, overthrow with lantern and stained-glass window ferramenta bars. Mark enjoys researching the history of each building when involved in its restoration, in this way he gains deeper insight and finds an affinity with the building which enables him and the Evias team to approach the repairs sensitively whilst maintaining the original integrity of the building. Mark specialises in the skills needed to manipulate materials from Wrought Iron, Cast Iron and Lead to Copper and Brass, allowing him to make repairs seamlessly and sympathetically in keeping with the existing metalwork and environment.

Core Conservation Principles
Our passion is for history and historical architecture and in particular Ironwork of all ages. At Evias Forge we turn a skilled and professional eye to every detail and endeavour to retain the integrity and appeal of the original artefact. Initially we analyse and assess the artefact in its original form to understand its importance before any intervention’s take place. Based on these observations we catalogue and photograph every stage of the work process. We use traditional techniques and materials to replicate original detailing when needed for sympathetic restoration work. We work to preserve and salvage the original piece as much as possible whilst adding well-crafted replicas that blend seamlessly with the existing metalwork. Thus, resulting in conserving history for decades to come.
